WOW!

Our little girl is one month old already!! Time really does fly when your having fun!!! I've got to say that I absolutley love being a mom. I'm not going to lie and say it's all been super easy-most of it has but I was not prepared for the no sleeping the first few nights. That made for a stressful few days! Emery is a great baby she rarely cries, mostly because when I hear her I just want to pick her up and soothe her. People tell you to let your baby cry it out- well I'm not sure how much of that I believe right now. She only cries when she needs something. Here are a few things about her (and some about me) at ONE month old... *We just got our first family photos taken by Nicole. She did fabulous! This is the only picture I have so far. Nicole is editing them and I will have them later. So stay tuned for that!

*She now weighs a whopping 10 lbs 12 oz and is 22 1/2 in long. When she came home from the hospital she was 8 lbs 15 oz 21 in long. What can I say she likes to eat just like her mom!

*She is wearing size 3 month clothes. She mostly wears 0-3 but can wear 3-6 month too. She has little newborn onsies that were never worn bc she was too big! Also she was only in newborn diapers for 1 day.

*Everyone says she looks like her Daddy. I'm ok with that since he is so cute too!

*Breastfeeding really isnt that bad. When someone asks and I tell them I am breastfeeding they always cringe and say doesnt that hurt? No it doesn't-it did the first time but not after that.

*I truely believe she is smiling at me and that it is not just gas. Sometimes it is but not all the time.

*Everyone always comments on how perfect her head is. They have since she came out. We probably get someone saying that at least 5 times a week.

*Her belly button thingy has not fallen out yet. I am alittle concerned about this! But the doctor said not to worry about it. It is drying out though. It really grosses me out!

*We are getting our routine down. It gets easier every day!

*She is sleeping in her bed now at night. Long story but for those of you that know it know how much this means to me! This makes the mommy happy :)

*She likes to be in her swing but I'm not sure that she likes it moving!! I always just put her in it but don't turn it on-maybe because she's always sleeping already when I put her in it or maybe because when I do turn it on she wakes up! IDK

*She eats every 2 1/2 hours and its almost like alittle alarm goes off in her head! Its funny. But at night she eats every 3-4 hours. That we are working on! When do they start sleeping through the night :) ??

*All of her cousins love her so much! They all want to hold her every chance they get!

Well those are some of her stats as of now. More to come. There are alot more things I could write about her but those will wait for another post

Until then....

Beautiful Baby

Just a few more pictures. I finally got one of our family. Thanks Austin. Most people take these in the hospital when they are first born but that didnt happen bc she was swept away to the NICU. I want to post about that but everytime I go to do it it makes me sad and I just can't. I know she is ok now but its still hard to think of. Not a very flattering picture but I still like it.
Evelyn and Emery at Ev's birthday party. Ev sees the carseat and her eyes light up. It is so cute to watch. We are teaching her how to say Emy. It sounds like Amy but she's little! She loves to say baby though! She's going to be agood big sister!

One of me and my little girl! I absoultely am head over heals in love with her. She has her days and nights alittle mixed up right now but I am slowly getting used to the no sleep thing! She is now 9lbs 10oz up almost 1 lb since leaving the hospital. No one told me how exhauting breastfeeding was but I dont want to quit. It's so much healthier for her and its free. I am just more aware of what I eat now too. No more spicy food for me for awhile. And I love spicy food
:( Any pointers for making them sleep better at night? This first time mom would love any hints and advice anyone could give!

Priceless

My family-It's pefect! Tally blends in with the blanket!

She's here!!!!

She's here and she's beautiful! Emery Joy Irons born April 28th at 8:42 pm. She was 9lbs 2oz and 21 inches long. Here are the first few shots of her with many more to come!
One of many bows that she will be wearing!

Daddy and Emery right after she was born-he's a natural and I could not ask for anyone better!

I love this bow!

She loves the swing. After a rough night in the NICU we found the swing(and a binky :( soothed her. But as of now she doesn't use the binky that often.
So for the labor story:
On Tuesday I was having regular contractions-which I found out were braxton hicks contractions later on. But they were every 5 minutes. They did not hurt too bad. I called the midwife and asked what she thought I should do. They told me to come in and they would check me and we'd go from there. So we went in and the doctor said we were at a 3 and it was up to us if we wanted to go to the hospital or not. Since they contractions didnt hurt that bad we decided to go home and wait it out. Well that night I decided to take Tally for a walk and then take a hot bath to see if that would speed things along. By the time we went to bed my contractions had slowed way down and I was bummed because I knew nothing was going to happen that night.
Well I woke up at 1:20 am to go to the bathroom and when I went back and layed in bed I could feel something was off. I could feel in my stomach something was going to happen. And sure enough I heard a little pop noise and then my water broke-grossest thing ever!! I woke Pat up and was like Oh my god my water just broke! Then we ran to the bathroom and called the midwife. By then my contractions were every 3-4 minutes and coming very strong-definately not like they were the day before! We got to the hospital at 3 AM and they gave me the first round of painkillers around 4am. Those were not helping me whatsoever and I told them I was going to need an epidural. I got that around 5 and was a happy girl from then on out. I did not like the way it made my legs feel like they were 100lbs each! Well we were dilated to a 9 at noon but nothing was happening. So at 6pm they decided to start pitocin. After that I started pushing around 7:30 and within and hour and 15 min she was here. The labor hurt like hell. After every push I was determined that she was never going to come out. It really hurt-I dont think anyone told me just how much! But I have a great husband who was there telling me that I could do this the whole time. There were times where I just looked at him and it made me feel alittle better. He definately is my rock.
